Youth Services

The Youth Services work of Rotary is specifically targeted at young people  within the community. Full details of what  opportunities Rotary’s Youth Services  offers to young people can be found on our  District and National websites .

Competitions

Here are some of the competitions that the club supports each year. If there is something that we are not offering but you are keen to take part in, then speak to us and we may be able to help.

Youth Speaks is a national competition with two age categories (Intermediates 11 to 13 ) and (Seniors 14 to 17). The club round for this competition usually starts in January each year.

 

 Young Chef is a national competition open to all students in full time education between the ages of 11 and 17 ( on 31 August). The club round for this competition usually starts in December each year. Additionally we also hold a local Bake off competition hosted by our Salisbury Rotary & Business in the Community Group.

 

Young Writer  is a national competition open to all students in three categories Junior  (7 to 10 years),  Intermediate (11 to 13 years) and Senior (4 to 17 years). We generally hold a club round for this competition we entries due by February each year.

 

Young Photographer   is a national competition open to all students  in three categories Junior  (7 to 10 years),  Intermediate (11 to 13 years) and Senior (4 to 17 years). We generally hold a club round for this competition we entries due by February each year.

 

Young Citizen recognise young people under the age of 25 who have demonstrated their commitment to citizenship, goodwill and understanding through various activities. The awards can be for individuals or groups, for projects and initiatives that showcase positive citizenship and the important responsibilities assumed by young people.

Winners receive trophies and a £500 prize for their chosen charity.

If you as an individual or group known any young people who are doing good work for the local community then please contact us and we may be able to  nominate them for this award.

 

 We are very keen to start Technology Tournaments  both for seniors and juniors

 

 

Programme Events

 

Our district offers two life changing leadership weekend courses a year, which are open all young people in school years 9 to 12 ( must be aged 14 on 30 May). As a longstanding supporter of this programme, we regularly sponsors up to three places a year.   Full details can be found on the RYLA web page.

 

 

Rotary Youth Exchange offers lots of opportunities to visit and/or study in another country. These range from short term visits or camps or year long study programmes.

 

 

 

Rotaract is a unique international service organisation for people aged 18-30, offering a wide range of activities that will enable you to try something new, whilst having a great time and meeting others. Currently the club does not sponsor any Rotaract clubs but if your interested in forming one the please speak to us.

 

Interact is a fun and lively organisation offering young people aged 12-18 amazing opportunities to broaden their horizons, make new friends and help the lives of others. Generally schools use Interact to fit into The Duke of Endinburgh’s Award ( dofe). Currently the club does not sponsor any Interact clubs but if your interested in forming one the please speak to us.

 Rota Kids is fun and exciting way for children aged 7-12 to make friends and get involved with important activities in the community, all while having a great time in the process. Clubs are based in schools, youth groups or community centres. Currently the club does not sponsor any Rota Kids clubs but if your interested in forming one the please speak to us.
